It is possible to manipulate equipment structure in EAM Light in several ways:
1) Using the record view of the equipment - here an example for parents of an asset:
Only one of the parents (asset, position or primary system) can be 'dependent' and only one Asset can be a direct child of an EAM Position
2) A second option involves using the "Install/Detach Equipment" functionality in EAM Light where the parent and child can be selected and a link created by clicking on the 'Install Equipment' button
It's very convenient to work with the equipment tree for structure in EAM Light as it allows users to select with a mouse-click the parent/child.

Worth noting also is that it's not possible to manipulate Equipment in status 'D' (out of service) and Equipment in status 'C' (in a store)

Single custom field values can be uploaded with Upload Utility. The only requirement is to have an entity that belong all to the same class.
You first need to select the environment (TEST or PROD) as the classes may be different (available on the Upload tab)
When you are ready to select the custom field header for the column, right click on the column name and scroll down to the "Custom fields" section. There you will find the custom fields available for the class of your entity
An alternative solution exists that allow you to bulk update many custom fields from the same class.
1. Select "Upload" and open any Excel file (it can even be empty) and select the environment (TEST or PROD)
2. Select 'Generate Template' and choose the entity for which you wish to update CFs
The template should contain at least the code (part, asset, position, system) or the number (work-order), the class-name and the class custom fields you wish to update
3. Save the template as Excel, update the file with the entity codes, custom fields and save and close it
4. Back in the Upload Utility chose 'Upload' open the file, select the entity, the environment (TEST/PROD) then go to the Upload tab, open the file and select the correct Entity, select "Update" and click

If during your upload you get a few errors, you can easily remove the uploaded records and restart the upload. In order to remove the uploaded rows: right click on the table region and click on "Remove Uploaded Records". Once only the errors will be listed and you understood where the problem was, you can also double click on a cell to modify the value.
Errors during the upload are frequent but most of the time are easy to solve. Once you get an error, move the cursor on the red dot at the very beginning of the row to see where the problem come from.
When you select an Excel file from your computer, it can happen that not all the columns are properly recognized in Upload Utility. The quickest method to correct it, it's a right click on the not recognized header (highlighted in red) and select the good syntax for this column name.
